Chakaal(akak)

Chakaal is the kind of name your friends give you when they can't remember the one your Mom gave you. The name comes from the Groo Wanderer comics by Sergio Aragones. Send just ONE unabomber manifesto to a science fiction author and your name gets changed again. This time I'm a big scaly lizard (alien).

I have worked in the Internet industry since 1993, at companies including Digex, SkyCache (Cidera), HIS.com, Colocation corporation and Verizon. I also worked nearly two years for a childrens' resort here in Williamsburg. It was a truly crappy work environment but it allowed me to finally move in with my husband. It iss the only job I have ever walked away from with no regrets. I'm not bitter. I should have left long before I did. OK I guess I can say nearly the same thing about my last job at Vitesco. Don't worry, I didn't sign their Non-disparagement or take their hush money so I'm totally allowed to talk about it. Still, common to both cases was extreme disrespect and in Vitesco's case a little ass-covering by a manager.

So now I'm retired and not interested in going back to another meat-grinder tech job where I'll be disrespected and unseen.

I'm doing what I swore I'd never do - take care of a household while some man pays the bills. But I'm lucky I CAN do that so I'm taking the deal for now. House, yard, dog and some lite tech work here and there. A little travel. A little aikido, a little karate (depending on that knee) and getting back in to gym rat life.

Also fending off or ignoring occasional offers to buy this domain. TL;DR - I got it in 1994 and I'm in no hurry to offload it.
